The Teamsters Local 25 at Republic Services is on strike. Our campaign stands with labor and striking workers trying to win a better life for themselves and their families.
In too many ways, our legal and economic systems are rigged against workers and working families and in favor of billionaires and the investor class. Over the course of my lifetime, the productivity of the average worker has exploded, but the wages of working folks remain stagnant. Families are squeezed between high housing costs, childcare and school costs, and our general high cost of living.

According to a press release from Republic Services, they returned $1.18 billion to investors and still managed a 12% profit margin in 2024. Our local trash haulers, truck drivers, and other waste management professionals deserve to be fairly compensated for their work.
Our campaign has written a letter to Republic Services asking for more information. We have specifically requested the following:
The average salary of workers who serve our community;
The average salary of Republic Services corporate executives;
The amount paid for health benefits for workers who serve our community;
The amount paid for lobbying efforts, including donations to trade groups and any "gifts" provided to any current or former public official in Essex County.

Tristan is a union member (NAGE) and his campaign stands with striking workers.
You can read his full letter to Republic Services below. If they provide a response, we will share it.
