Public Safety
One of the primary responsibilities of any city government is public safety. Ensuring the public safety of all Peabody residents is a primary concern.

According to Nextdoor, the crime rate in Peabody (~16.4%) remains below the state average (~21.7%) and well below the national average (~33.4%). (Source: https://nextdoor.com/resources/crime-and-safety/peabody--ma/). We should be proud of the work of our law enforcement -- our low crime rate is a testament to the work of our police and the positive way the Peabody Police engage the community and build support. As city councilor, I want to work to make sure we remain a leader in this area and explore ways to push the crime rate even lower.
Public safety, however, has to mean more than a low crime rate. We live in an unpredictable and chaotic world. People are reasonably afraid for any number of reasons. Immigrants are under threat of sudden and unjust deportations. Trans kids are being denied their existence. Our gay and lesbian friends and family may soon find their rights under further assault as well. Every single law abiding Peabody resident deserves to feel safe and secure. I will always do what I can to stand up for the rights and dignity of all people. I pledge to be a voice on the council that will advocate for finding ways for the City of Peabody to further protect the human rights of all its people.
Public safety also means housing and economic security. It means having a local economy that can support local jobs and help weather any potential economic downturn. I will advocate that Peabody use its zoning authority to encourage new housing, an expanded nighlife, and investments that enhance the security of working people.
